La Ribera Beach
An urban beach with golden sand.
Located where the medieval whaling port once stood, in Luanco’s historic district across from the pier, La Ribera Beach enjoyed its heyday during the late 19th-century wave-bathing vacations at the La Rosario Spa, which disappeared many years ago. It is a vast, peaceful stretch of sand, popular in the summer for strolling and sunbathing, although it disappears completely at high tide.
La Ribera is the marina most beloved by the people of Luanco, who celebrate their most deeply rooted traditions here; it serves as the setting for the Venia procession during Holy Week, the bonfires of San Juan on the summer solstice, and the famous International Tennis Tournament-Luanco Beach.
